California Elections Data Archive (CEDA) Database

  • Download data from past California elections (starting from 1995), including:

    • 1) County Elections: Candidates, ballot designations, and vote totals for all elected county offices; vote totals and text for county ballot measures.

    • 2) City Elections: Candidates, ballot designations, and vote totals for all elected city offices; vote totals, and text for all city ballot measures.

    • 3) Community College and School District Elections: Candidates, ballot designations, and vote totals for all elective community college and school district offices; vote totals and text for all district ballot measures.

 

National Voting Data Sources

  • Federal Election Commission: Every two years, the FEC publishes Federal Elections, a compilation of official, certified federal election results. These publications include primary, runoff and general election results for the Senate, the House of Representatives and (when applicable) the President.

  • American National Election Studies: Academically-run national surveys of voters in the United States, conducted before and after every presidential election.

Surveys and Polls on Public Opinion

  • Pew Research Center: Public opinion polling, demographic research, content analysis and other data-driven social science research.

  • California Polls (The Field Poll): The Field Poll, or the California Poll, was established in 1947 by Mervin Field and has operated continuously as an independent, non-partisan, media-sponsored public opinion news service. They cover a wide range of political and social topics.

  • IGS Polls: The Institute for Governmental Studies at UC Berkeley fields a set of surveys, beginning in 2017, of Californians' opinions and attitudes.

  • USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times Polls: The USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences/Los Angeles Times Poll project is a series of statewide public opinion polls in California, designed to survey voter attitudes on a wide range of political, policy, social and cultural issues.
